Bikes On Rent For Tourists in Delhi May Soon Become A Reality

In a bid to attract and increase the convenience for tourists in and around the national capital, the Delhi government has announced the launch of a rented motorcycle scheme on the lines of Goa. The move aims at providing last mile connectivity to tourists and individual in the city.

    In a bid to attract and increase the convenience for tourists in and around the national capital, the Delhi government has announced the launch of a rented motorcycle scheme on the lines of Goa. The move aims at providing last mile connectivity to tourists and individual in the city. The Delhi Transport department will issue special licenses to the motorcycles that can be hired for use by individuals and tourists.

    "These will be commercially registered and given contract carriage permit. Licensee should have minimum of five motorcycles with office space of 150 square feet," a senior official of Transport department said.

    Official said that this proposal was sent by the Tourism department to boost tourism in the national capital. That said, proposal of 'bike taxi' services in Delhi was declined due to security reason of pillion driver. According to the tourism department, these bikes will be available on rent at metro stations, railway stations, ISBTs and all important places across the city.

    Official claims that Transport department will notify the proposal by the end of this month.
