BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Facelift India Launch Set For End-June

- Might continue with both petrol and diesel engines
- New design language part of the update
- Facelift will also carry a significant price hike
BMW India is all set to bring in the updated 2 Series Gran Coupe by the end of this month (i.e. June 2025). The entry point to the Bavarian badge is getting a dose of fresh styling, a sharper cabin, and subtle tech upgrades, all while most likely retaining the same powertrain options under the hood.

The new 2 Series Gran Coupe gets the usual facelift playbook: redesigned LED headlamps with a more angular DRL signature that is seen on most modern BMWs. There’s a slightly tweaked kidney grille taking inspiration from the M2 coupe (because what’s a BMW update without some grille drama?). The rear also gets mildly revised LED tail lamps with the same angular lighting signature. And a sportier bumper setup that’s not night-and-day different, but enough to make your neighbours do a double-take.
Of course, the newer alloy wheel designs look much more appealing now and feel like they belong to a much larger and sportier model from the Bavarian line-up. Internationally, there are fresh paint options as well, including a gorgeous Fire Red metallic, but we’ll have to wait and see which of those make it to the Indian-spec lineup.

On the inside, it’s a similar story of evolutionary rather than revolutionary. The updated 2 Gran Coupe now borrows its dashboard layout from the bigger BMWs. That means you get the brand’s new curved display — a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display blended into a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen running BMW’s latest iDrive 8.5 interface. The physical climate control buttons are gone, but the overall dashboard is cleaner, crisper, and more akin to its elder siblings like the 5 Series and M5. Also new are the seats with recycled materials, redesigned air vents, and updated trim inserts.
Under the bonnet, don’t expect anything dramatically changed. The India-spec model is likely to continue with the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine in the 220i variant, paired to a 7-speed DCT gearbox, churning out 176 bhp. The diesel 220d variant could be offered too, depending on demand and inventory strategy.

With the update, the prices are expected to see a mild bump over the outgoing version, which currently starts at ₹43.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Expect the facelifted model to creep closer to ₹45 lakh, depending on variant and equipment. With the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan being the only alternative, the new and updated 2 Series Gran Coupe will hold the upper hand it being the newer option of the two for the buyers. But how well the eccentric design of the new 2 GC goes down with the buyers remains to be seen.
