BMW has opened bookings for the new 2 Series Gran Coupe in India, with the sedan to launch in India on July 17, 2025. The new 2 Series Gran Coupe (2GC) is set to launch in petrol guise only, with BMW’s website saying it will be offered in two trim levels – M Sport and M Sport Pro.

Starting with exterior looks, the new 2GC gets an evolutionary design over the model it replaces with a revised grille, new headlamps and bumpers. The four-door coupe-like profile is retained, while around the back, the tail lights and bumper also get a revised design.

The cabin, in comparison, gets more notable changes in line with newer BMWs such as the X1. There is a free-standing panoramic display atop the dashboard housing the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.7-inch touchscreen, while a lot of the physical control surfaces on the centre console have been deleted. The side vents get a unique split design while a single large central vent sits below the touchscreen. The front centre armrest houses some physical controls which act as shortcuts for menus on the touchscreen, as well as the start/stop button and the shift-by-wire gear selector for the automatic gearbox.
Coming to the variants, the 2GC will be offered in the sportier-looking M Sport variants for the Indian market, offering slightly sharper design cues and sportier-looking wheels. Meanwhile, inside the cabin, M Sport detailing will include an M Sport steering wheel and sportier accents.

As for the powertrain, BMW has confirmed that the 2GC will be offered in 218 guise with a 1.5-litre petrol engine under the hood. The unit develops 154 bhp and 230 Nm – down 20 bhp and 50 Nm over the outgoing 2GC’s 2.0-litre mill, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as standard.
The new 2 Series Gran Coupe will go up against the Mercedes-Benz A-class when it is launched.
