BMW M5 Competition Details Revealed

Earlier this week, we reported that the some of the details of the BMW M5 Competition were leaked online. While, we did not have all the information then, now we certainly do as the new BMW M5 Competition is finally here. And if you remember, we had told you that the BMW M5 Competition is the most powerful and the sportiest version of the M5 sedan yet to come out of the German stable. The company also announced that BMW M GmbH will from now onwards offer the most powerful variants of BMW's high-performance cars as standalone models. The new BMW M5 Competition will be available from July 2018 and will be available in USA, UK, Germany, Japan and Canada.

Let's dive straight into the engine. Under the hood, the BMW M5 Competition comes with a 4.4-litre V8 engine that produces maximum power of 625 bhp and peak torque of 750NM. With this engine, the M5 Competition propels from 0 to 100kmph in just 3.3 seconds, while the 200kmph mark is reached from a standing start in 10.8 seconds - 0.3 seconds quicker than in the standard version of the new BMW M5. Moreover, the M Sport exhaust system comes as standard on the M5 Competition. The twin-pipe exhaust system produces an extremely distinctive soundtrack while the black chrome embellisher of the tailpipe pair makes a great visual impression.

On the design front, the M5 Competition gets high-gloss black accenting to the front end of the front grille as well as on the rear bumper covering. A color-coordinated composition with the tailpipes in black chrome is also formed with this. The M5 badging is finished in high-gloss black and is placed on the rear spoiler and boot lid. Apart from this, the door openers are painted entirely in body colour and a host of details finished in high-gloss black. The sporty black tone is used for the mirror bases and mirror triangles, plus the exterior mirror caps and the mesh of the signature M gills in the front flanks. Wheels on the M5 Competition include exclusive M 20-inch light-alloy wheels sporting a Y-spoke design in a bi-colour finish.

On the inside, the M5 Competition gets black seat belts with striped pattern in BMW M GmbH colors and floor mats with model-specific piping plus an 'M5' logo. Another feature is the 'M Competition' welcome graphic on the instrument cluster once the driver turns on the ignition.
