carandbike Awards 2021: Ather 450X Crowned EV Two-Wheeler Of The Year

The all-electric Ather 450X has won the prestigious 2021 CNB Scooter of the Year Award. The Bengaluru-based Ather Energy's popular model was launched India last year as a replacement for the regular 450, and it is already seeing a strong demand from customers. To win the coveted title, the 450X had to compete with a range of strong contenders like the Aprilia SXR 160, fellow electric scooters - Bajaj Chetak, Okinawa Lite, TVS iQube, along with Honda Activa 6G, Yamaha Fascino 125, and Yamaha Ray ZR 125.

The Warp mode drops the range to 50 km on a full charge, but compensates with blistering acceleration
The Ather 450X comes with a larger 2.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which powers the electric motor to produce 6 kW (up from 5.4 kW), equivalent of 8 bhp and 26 Nm of peak torque. That's a whole 6 Nm more than the older 450. The Ather 450X gets four modes - Eco, Ride, Sport and Warp. The Warp mode is new and gives you access to the full 26 Nm. Ather claims 0-40 kmph in just 3.3 seconds, while 0-60 kmph takes 6.5 seconds. Ather claims 85 km on a single charge, but that's only on the Eco mode. It will drop to 75 km in the Ride mode and down to 50 km on the Warp mode.
Ather Energy offers the new 450X in two variants - Plus and Pro. And while the former is priced at Rs. 1.27 lakh, the Pro variant is priced at Rs. 1.46 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
