carandbike Awards 2022: Premium Performance Motorcycle Of The Year - Triumph Trident 660

- The Triumph Trident 660 has easy rideability & entertaining performance
- The Trident 660 went up against the Honda CB650R & Ducati Monster
- The two-wheeler jury gave top honours to the Trident 660 in its category
The Triumph Trident 660 is the most affordable model from Triumph Motorcycles, and it has won the 2022 Premium Performance Motorcycle of the Year Award. The new entry-level Triumph roadster has been designed and built for easy rideability, combined with sharp and intuitive handling and balance. To win this award was no easy task because the Trident 660 had to impress the CNB Awards jury members, a task made more difficult by the competition it was going against, the quite entertaining Honda CB650R, and the crackling Ducati Monster.

Track-side conversations between different jurors looked like it was going to be a close finish. Some jurors were impressed by the Honda's refinement and inline four engine, while others were quite taken in by the Ducati Monster, offering a significant performance advantage as well as state-of-the-art electronics. While the Honda impressed everyone with its superb handling and sublime performance, the Ducati Monster's performance and handling just made things even more difficult to decide. It was down to the wire, but this is one category where several jury members went out on track to test the nominees back to back, and on more than one occasion!

The Triumph Trident 660 with its easy rideability, compact size and sing-songy howl from the inline triple engine just about made it a favourite. Its three-cylinder engine makes 80 bhp at 10,250 rpm and 64 Nm at 6,250 rpm. It gets two riding modes, traction control, slip and assist clutch and dual-channel ABS, but no fancy electronics like a standard quickshifter. Considering its price tag of Rs. 7.45 lakh (Ex-showroom), it's not difficult to see why the jury eventually gave the Triumph Trident 660 top honours in its category.
