Chevrolet Camaro SS Brought to India For R&D

The Chevrolet Camaro is no stranger to India. We've seen at every Auto Expo in Delhi from 2010 and it has always been a crowd puller. Turns out, Chevrolet has brought the Camaro SS to India for R&D.

So is Chevrolet considering the car for India? Well, at one point in time, they were considering it. However, understanding that India clearly does not have a market for muscle cars yet, the car is here probably for a different reason altogether. It is normal for cars to do the rounds of various countries as part of the global prototype test.

The Camaro SS that has made its way to India comes powered by the 6.2-litre V8 which is capable of churning out 426bhp and 570Nm of peak torque. GM claims the Camaro SS lapped Germany's Nurburgring in 8 minutes 20 seconds, which is quite the record, considering that supercars and hypercars slot somewhere between 7-8 minutes on the same track.

Work on the second generation of the muscle car is already under way and this one will take on the likes of the new Ford Mustang.
