Citroen C3 Premium Hatchback Spotted Testing Ahead Of Launch

- The Citroen C3 is positioned as a premium hatch with rugged elements
- The C3 was spotted testing in India near Chennai, Tamil Nadu
- It is based on the company's new Common Modular Platform (CMP)
A test mule of the upcoming Citroen C3 premium hatchback has been spotted testing in India sans camouflage, and this time around we get to see a lower variant of the car. As seen in the spy photo the test mule comes with a set of steel wheels with full-size covers, and it also doesn't get the side cladding with the signature contrast inserts, indicating it could be a mid-spec variant of the C3. However, we do get to see a dual-tone paint job, featuring a metallic grey body colour and an orange roof.

The Citroen C3 will be the second product from Stellantis-owned French carmaker, and it will be a Made-in-India product. Citroen has confirmed that it will launch the new locally made C3 in the first half of 2022, and it will go up against the likes of the Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz, and Tata Altroz.

Upcoming Citroen C3 comes with SUV-ish styling so you also get to see a lot of cladding all around the car to give that butch look
Visually, the C3 showcased by the company came with SUV-ish styling so you also get to see a lot of cladding all around the car to give that butch look. It gets signature Citroen grille with two chrome lines extending from each side of the logo and going into the split LED daytime running lights creating the impressing of being one single unit. The car comes with halogen headlamps, along with front cladding and aluminium skid plates on the bumper. The C3 also comes with faux roof rails, wraparound LED taillamps and a beefy rear bumper.

The car comes with a 2540 mm wheelbase, and passengers in the second-row seats get a legroom space of 851 mm and a knee room of 653 mm
While we do not get to see the interior here, the C3 will get a well-laid-out cabin with the two-tone colour treatment carried over from the exterior. The vibrant panel on the dashboard matches the exterior shade of the car, while the air-con vents, with glossy black bezels, are similar to the ones in the C5 Aircross. Customers will also get a choice of up to eight seat covers, and there is a place to attach a smartphone clamp.
Technical specifications are yet to be revealed, however, we expect the Citroen C3 to come with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. The company has claimed that it will be launched at a competitive price point, so we would expect it to be priced between Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
