Highlights

  • Tata Motors will not phase out the Hexa.
  • The Hexa will be on sale beyond the BS6 deadline.
  • It is likely to share the BS6 powertrain with the Harrier.

The Indian auto industry is on the verge of a major upgradation which will require all the vehicles sold in India to comply with the BS6 norms post April 2020. However, it's difficult for some models (especially diesel models) to make it beyond the deadline as the high cost of transition will make the vehicle too expensive. Recently, there were reports about the Hexa being phased out, however, the carmaker has confirmed that model will not succumb to the stringent emission norms and will continue to be on sale post the BS6 deadline.

The Hexa went on sale in India in January 2017 and got a mild cosmetic update in March this year. The model is due for a facelift following its lifecycle, however, Tata Motors has not confirmed one yet which led to the rumours. Moreover, people have also confused the upcoming Tata H7X (seven-seater version of the Tata Harrier) to be a replacement for the Hexa while the company had already specified that the H7X will be positioned above the Hexa in its line-up.
