Convergence Energy To Develop EV Charging Ecosystem In India Jointly With Other Companies

On the occasion of World Environment Day, Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), has signed a memorandum with a variety of companies, including TVS Motor Company in a bid to develop charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in India.

Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL) is a new subsidiary of state-owned Energy Efficiency Services Limited, which itself is a joint venture of public sector companies under the Ministry of Power, and on the occasion of World Environment Day 2021, announced a number of new partnerships and collaborations with regards to develop charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in India. And one of the collaborations CESL signed was with TVS Motor Company. The idea is to jointly work on the expansion and adoption of EV ecosystem in India. Under the agreement, CESL will also invest in establishing the electric vehicle charging infrastructure and monitor the use of the infrastructure.

Additionally, CESL has entered in strategic relationships with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), JBM Renewables Pvt Ltd and Fortum India to develop and boost the EV ecosystem in the country.

Ms. Mahua Acharya, MD and CEO, Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), said that, "Mass adoption of EVs is an important step towards achieving India's green growth goals and there is no better day than today, World Environment Day, to announce EESL's many collaborations."

This includes setting up of public charging infrastructure, understand technological adoption in charging, explore best practices and business models and also the availability of potential customer segments for demand augmentation. These agreements will also include development of highway and expressway charge point operators. The feasibility of park and charge facility across all EV segments will also be explored as part of the project.
