- Sakshi Malik is the first customer of the Datsun redi-GO Sport
- The redi-GO gets cosmetic revisions and new features added to the package
Datsun redi-GO Sport, a limited edition model of the Japanese automaker's latest hatchback, has been launched in India today, priced at Rs. 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Compared to the range topping S trim on the redi-GO, the Sport limited edition comes at a premium of around Rs. 15,000. The sporty version was aptly launched by Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik, who will also be the first customer of the limited edition version. On sale for the festive season, the new redi-GO Sport receives only cosmetic upgrades, inside and out, while retaining the existing mechanicals.
Aesthetically, the Datsun redi-GO Sport gets themed grille with red accents, black finished wheel cover, roof spoiler, race decals across the bonnet and roof, while the dashboard gets upgraded with sporty black interiors. The limited edition redi-GO also comes with several creature comforts like rear parking sensor, remote keyless entry, Bluetooth audio system, among other tech. The redi-GO Sport is available in three colour options - Ruby, White and Grey.
Datsun is offering the redi-GO Sport on the carline's top-end trim, namely, S. Just so you know, Datsun offers a total of five trim levels on the standard redi-GO: D, A, T, T(O), and S. Other than that, the redi-GO Sport features no other changes. It also comes powered by the 799cc three-cylinder petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission and delivers 53bhp and maximum torque of 72Nm.
The Datsun redi-GO was launched in India earlier this year in June 2016 and has been quite a hit since then. Datsun retailed 2,925 units of the hatchback in June, 3,940 units in July and 3,205 units in August. With the festive season round the corner, addition of the limited edition to the carline is expected to further help its sales.
