Eicher Motors Appoints B Govindarajan As CEO Of Royal Enfield

- B. Govindarajan is now CEO, Royal Enfield & Wholetime Director of EML

Eicher Motors, the parent company of Royal Enfield, has announced appointing B Govindarajan as the motorcycle brand's Chief Executive Officer. Since August 2021, Govindarajan has been serving as the Executive Director of Royal Enfield, and previously, he was the Chief Operating Officer at RE since 2013. In addition to being the CEO of Royal Enfield, Govindarajan will also serve as a Wholetime Director on the Board of Eicher Motors Limited (EML). The announcement came along with the company's Q4 FY2022 results, post the Board of Directors meeting held on Friday, May 13, 2022.

Eicher Motors says that B Govindarajan's appointment as CEO - Royal Enfield was in line with the company's long-term ambitions, strategic growth plans, and a strong product launch line-up over the coming years. The company believes that Govindarajan's business & technical knowledge, leadership skills, understanding of the industry and tenured experience in the industry and at Royal Enfield will help him take the company to the next level.

Govindarajan has also led the development and launch of several motorcycles, including the J-series platform, which includes the Meteor and Classic 350
In the company Q4 FY2022 result announcement, B. Govindarajan, CEO - Royal Enfield and Wholetime Director, EML said, "As we move forward, we remain focused on creating products and offering experiences that stay true to our philosophy of pure motorcycling. As the supply chain settles and the market starts getting buoyant, we are ready to ramp up and grow Royal Enfield to new heights"

Govindarajan has spent more than 23 years across Royal Enfield and Eicher Motors, and over the years has led several turnkey projects and has been instrumental in growing and expanding the company's manufacturing facilities. Eicher says he also had a major hand in bringing a paradigm shift in the product quality and new product development process. Govindarajan has also led the development and launch of several motorcycles at Royal Enfield including the Himalayan, the 650 Twin platform and motorcycles, and more recently, the J-series platform, which includes the Meteor and Classic 350.
Eicher says he has also been instrumental in furthering the company's global ambitions by establishing subsidiaries, and CKD operations across critical markets. In FY2022, Royal Enfield added two new local assembly units in Colombia and Thailand, in addition to its existing CKD unit in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
