Indian Racers Who Are Making Waves In International Events

- India is developing when it comes to contributing Formula One racers
- Formula racers in India are making notable achievements
- Here are five Indian racers who are making an impact on the Formula One
Motorsport might not be celebrated as much as cricket in India, but some India has produced some great talent. Names like Narain Karthikeyan and Jehan Daruvala have made sure to keep the Indian audience hooked onto motorsport.
Jehan Daruvala
Jehan Daruvala is a Mumbai-based racer making quite an impact on the F1 world. It would be an understatement to say that he is India's best shot to Formula racing.
Jehan was the first Indian to bring home the Formula 2 race trophy held in Bahrain. What's more, the Indian racer also has six podium finishes to date. Daruvala currently represents Carlin Motorsport.

Gaurav Gill
The list of best Formula racers in India would be incomplete without Gaurav Gill. Alongside being one of the top Formula racers in India, he is also the former MRF driver. He was one of the first Indians to bag the achievement of winning the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship.
What's more interesting is that Gill has won the title not once but thrice! Gaurav was also honored with the Arjuna Award in 2019 for his spectacular performance in motorsports.

Karun Chandhok
Karun Chandhok last competed in the Formula E for Mahindra Racing. Chandhok pursued his passion for racing by competing in the 2011 German Grand Prix. Lotus also hired him as their reserve and test driver.
In early 2021, it was a great honor for Karun Chandhok when he was appointed to the Board of Directors of Motorsport UK. Among all the Formula racers in India, he is one of the only ones who made it to Formula 1 apart from Narain Karthikeyan.

Narain Kartikeyan
Narain Kartikeyan is India's best Formula racer, but he is also a Padma Shri receiver. This Coimbatore-born Formula racer began his journey in Formula racing in 1992. With several wins and achievements, he quickly rose to become the best Formula racer in India.
Kartikeyan's most outstanding achievement was when the Jordan Formula One Team signed him. Joining hands with Jordan also meant that Narain was the first-ever Indian F1 racer.

Sailesh Bolisetti
Sailesh Bolisetti juggles many hats. Besides being a racer, he is also an actor, a franchisee for a fitness chain and also helps in the family´s clearing and forwarding business. But despite that, he has managed to participate in the Euro Racecar NASCAR Touring series, GT4, many one-make racing championships and has bagged 16 wins in his career.
You'd be surprised to know that he was the first ever from our country to make it to the British GT Championship – GT4 in 2012 where he secured 3 podium finishes. In 2010, he made his fans proud by registering victory at Volkwagen Polo Cup India.
