Goodyear's Eagle-360 Tyres Will Change the Face of Mobility

Goodyear showcased the Eagle-360 tyre which has been designed for use on future autonomous vehicles. As you can see in the picture, the Eagle-360 is a spherical tyre that is designed to be suspended from a car by magnetic fields. This is similar to how mag-lev trains operate. According to the folks at Goodyear, using these tyres on cars would greatly increase passenger comfort while also reducing road noise.
Goodyear seems to have taken the concept of a 'wheel' or a circular object to a whole new level. As you can see the treads are all over the tyre, which means that it can move in all directions as there is plenty of grip on offer. The vehicles of the future will be able to have unprecedented maneuverability while also eliminating the hassle of parallel parking as a car would simply have to pull alongside an open spot and then slide into position.
The folks at Goodyear don't stop there as they say that the spherical tires would improve safety as the Eagle-360 has active technology that allows the tyre to move as needed. The tyres will be grippy and there will be less chance of them sliding on black ice or other unforeseen hazards.
The Eagle-360 is packed with sensors that collect information on road conditions and then share that information with other drivers. In fact it will take a step further by communicating this information to the road authorities who can site a potential problem.
With the Goodyear Eagle-360, the future indeed is here and not a long way away to see this make it to the roads.
