Harley-Davidson Hikes Prices on Select Models by Up to Rs. 30,000

The price hike makes Harley-Davidson's popular models dearer by a small margin. The entry-level Street 750 is currently priced at Rs. 4.52 lakh, while prices of the Sportster family including the Iron 883, 1200 Custom and Forty Eight starts at Rs. 7.37 lakh, Rs. 8.9 lakh and Rs. 9.12 lakh, respectively. The Softail range also includes three models in its lineup including the Fat Boy priced at Rs. 15.15 lakh, Breakout starting at Rs. 16.4 lakh and Heritage Softail Classic starting at Rs 16.6 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi). A model wise price rise will be communicated later by the company.

This is the second price hike by Harley-Davidson this year, after increasing prices earlier in January. Having arrived in 2009 in India, the cult bike maker has managed to carve a niche for itself over the years and currently retails 13 models, a host of which are locally assembled at the Bawal facility in Haryana. The Street 750 is the company's most affordable offering, which is locally manufactured and sold in India and overseas. The hike does push the asking price of the Street, but does not largely affect its value for money quotient.
So, if you were pushing off plans to get a new Harley, you might want to reconsider the decision and head to the nearest dealership soon. The company has 21 independent dealerships across the country spread across all major cities. The bike maker only recently announced that it plans to expand its presence in tier II and tier III markets as well.
