Honda will recall 57,676 units of its 3 models, the City, Jazz, and Civic, in India as part of its recall campaign to replace faulty airbags in its cars. The company said that it will voluntarily replace malfunctioning driver side airbag inflators in these cars, which were manufactured between January 2012 and June 2013.
Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) said in a statement that the recall will affect 49,572 units of the Honda City sedan which were produced between January 2012 and June 2013. Meanwhile, 7,504 units of its premium hatchback Jazz which were manufactured between February 2012 and February 2013, and 600 units of the Civic sedan which were made between January 2012 and August 2012 are also covered under the recall.
"The replacement would be carried out free of cost at HCIL dealerships across India in a phased manner, starting from February 20, 2016, and the company will communicate with customers directly," the statement said.
Earlier, in September 2015, Honda had announced a massive recall of around 2.23 lakh units of its cars in India - City, Jazz, Civic, and the CR-V SUV - which were manufactured between 2003 and 2012 to replace faulty airbag inflators, in what was the largest such exercise in the country then.
Later in December 2015, the company announced the recall of 90,210 units of the City and its Mobilio MPV in India, which were manufactured between December 2013 and July 2015, to replace faulty fuel return pipes.
