2022 Hyundai Tucson India Launch: Price Expectations

- The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is a huge step up over the outgoing model.
- It gets updated styling, cabin and more features.
- It is expected to be priced at a premium compared to its predecessor.
The new-generation Hyundai Tucson was unveiled in India last month and the Korean carmaker is all set to launch the all-new Tucson in India tomorrow. The company began with the pre-bookings for the new SUV on July 18, 2022 and deliveries are likely to begin once the prices are announced. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson takes on the likes of Jeep Compass and Citroen C5 Aircross in our market and is a huge step-up compared to its predecessor. And given the generations update, we expect ex-showroom prices for the new model to begin at around Rs. 21 lakh mark and go up to Rs. 28 lakh.
The new Hyundai Tucson boast an all-new adoring the new Sensual Sportiness design language. The SUV looks sharper, and the nose is dominated by Hyundai Parametric Jewel Design grille with a darkened chrome finish flanked by L-shaped segmented LED DRLS. The cabin features a split-cockpit look sporting a 10.25-inch touchscreen taking centre stage along with a second similar sized free standing instrument control sitting behind the steering. Hyundai is offering a choice of five single tone and two dual tone colour options for the Tucson.
Moving to the equipment list, the highlight here is the Advanced Driver Assistance System. Hyundai is offering level 2 ADAS tech on board the Tucson with the SUV capable of identifying other cars, two-wheelers and pedestrians in its path and take avoidance measures. The SUV also packs in blind-spot and cross-traffic collision warning and avoidance functions along with lane keep assist and smart cruise control with stop and go. The long creature comforts list also includes a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitoring, BlueLink connected vehicle tech with three-years subscription, Bose Audio system, heated and ventilated front seats, powered front seats and hands free tailgate among others.
Under the hood, the Tucson will be offered with two engine options. First up is the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine belting out 154 bhp and 192 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox as standard. Then is the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo diesel engine churning out 184 bhp and 416 Nm of peak torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel also gets the option of all-wheel drive in the Signature variant.
