India-Bound New Chevrolet Cruze Launched in China

- Chevrolet Cruze was first launched in 2009
- The new Cruze is underpinned by GM's all-new, global D2 platform
- Its chassis was tuned at the Nuerburgring race track
Wang Yongqing, President, SAIC-GM, said, "Underpinned by GM's most advanced global midsize car platform, the all-new Cruze is designed for the new generation of car buyers who are looking for the ultimate driving experience."

New Chevrolet Cruze Front
The second-generation Chevrolet Cruze is bigger than its predecessor - it now measures 4,666mm in length, 1,807mm in width and 1,460mm in height, and sports wheelbase of 2,700mm. It rides on a chassis that was tuned tuned at the legendary Nuerburgring race track in Germany and comes with the GM-patented reinforced Watt linkage. The new Cruze also sheds 120Kg, thanks to "lightweight design and increased use of ultra-strength materials".
The all-new Chevrolet Cruze's design comprises aggressive-looking head-lamps, one-piece LED daytime running lights, and dual-element U-shaped tail-lights, etc.. Inside, it gets Chevrolet's signature dual-cockpit design, which is further complemented by a butterfly-shaped center console and contemporary two-tone sporty leather trim. It also gets features such as cruise control, keyless entry, push button start, heated seats, and Electric Parking Brake (EPB).

New Chevrolet Cruze Side
GM is offering the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze with a choice of two petrol engines: a 1.4-litre direct injection turbocharged engine and a 1.5L direct injection engine. The former, mated to a seven-speed DCG transmission, generates 147.5bhp and peak torque of 240 Nm. The 1.5-litre unit develops 113bhp and 146 Nm of maximum torque and is offered with a new six-speed DSS transmission or a six-speed manual transmission.
GM will launch a total of 5 new models, including the new Chevrolet Cruze, in India over the next two years. The other names on the list are the Chevrolet Beat Activ, next-gen Chevrolet Beat hatchback, Chevrolet Trailblazer facelift, and Chevrolet Essentia sub-compact sedan.
