Indian Motorcycle Files Patent For A New Bike Based On FTR 1200

- Indian has filed a patent for the name 'Raven' in USA
- It could be used for a new Indian model
- The new model will mostly use the Indian FTR 1200's engine & chassis
Indian Motorcycle has filed the patent for a new name called 'Raven' which could be used for a new motorcycle model in future. Reports suggest that this new motorcycle will be derived from the Indian FTR 1200 or at least use the same 1,203 cc V-Twin engine that powers the motorcycle and also use the FTR 1200's chassis. Of course, there is no photographic evidence at this point to support this conjecture. The production spec FTR 1200 was revealed at the 2018 Intermot Motorcycle Show in October and it is the first time that Indian has come out with a product apart from an out-and-out cruiser motorcycle.

(The prices of the Indian FTR 1200 have been announced for India. The bike will be launched in 2019)The Indian FTR 1200 takes inspiration from the company's FTR 750 flat-track race bike which has won the American Flat-track championship multiple times. The FTR 1200 gets a 1,203 cc V-twin motor which makes about 118 bhp and peak torque of 115 Nm. If the new model does use the name 'Raven' expect it to be clad in full black and as of now, there is no mention of what kind of a motorcycle will it be. But, we expect it to be a non-cruiser model which is more dynamic in nature than a cruiser motorcycle.
Indian Motorcycle India has officially started taking bookings for the FTR 1200 S in India. The company will start the deliveries of the two models, which are the 1200 S and the 1200 S Race Replica from April 2019 onwards. The Indian FTR 1200 S will be priced at Rs. 14.99 lakh while the FTR 1200 S Race Replica will be priced at Rs. 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Interested customers can go to any Indian dealership and book the motorcycle by paying a token amount of Rs. 2 lakh.
