We all know Jaguar for being a car maker who, for generations, has delivered race winning cars but now the company has joined forces with Italian bicycle builder Pinarello to build the new Pinarello Dogma F8 bicycle.

Jaguar has merged all the lesson's it's learned and the technology it has developed to give Team Sky's cycling team a competitive edge as it heads to the sport's most famous competition - Tour De France. Quite obviously, the bike hasn't been fitted with a V8 engine, but what Jaguar has done is provided Pinarello access to its aerodynamics expertise and facilities to build the new cycle.

The result is a 26.1% more aerodynamic bike for the British cycling team than the outgoing Dogma 65.1 without a rider and 6.4% more aerodynamic including a rider. The bike will make its first public appearance at the Criterium du Dauphine on June 8 after which it heads off to Tour de France, where Team Sky will be hoping to make it three wins in three years.

Jaguar has for the first time, turned its attention to help develop something that does not come with an engine attached but it isn't the first car manufacturer to do so. In fact Lotus developed the bike that Chris Boardman rode to Olympic gold in the Track Pursuit at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
