- Partnership will see Northway Motorsport use Log9 battery tech in EVs
- Both companies will introduce Log9's new fast charging retrofitted platform
- Northway motorsport to collaborate with workshops in major metros for EV conversion
Log 9 Materials had entered into a long-term strategic partnership with Pune-based EV company Northway Motorsports for electric vehicle retrofitting. Under the partnership the two companies will offer small commercial vehicle operators the option to retrofit their vehicles to all-electric on a request basis. The collaboration will combine Northway’s expertise in retrofitting EVs with Log9’s RapidX battery technology. Additionally, Northway Motorsports also has plans to tie up with EV retrofitting workshops across major cities to make its services more widely available. The company is currently looking to tie up with garages in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad with other cities to follow.
Speaking on the collaboration, Kartik Hajela, Co-Founder & COO, Log9 Materials said, “As of today, there are very limited options for a 4-wheeler commercial EVs in the Indian market, and additionally, existing 4W commercial EVs are suffering due to charging downtime and low battery life. While solving these issues, we at Log9 want in parallel hope to speed up the process of getting more and more CVs on the road in order to build use-cases around the success of converting the popular ICE commercial vehicles to electric-powered ones while using the InstaCharge technology of Log9; and to this end, we are glad to partner with Northway Motorsport.”
The two companies will also be working together to introduce Log9’s upcoming new fast charging platform for retrofitted electric vehicles. The new product called InstaCharged will also be targeted at small commercial vehicles and is claimed to become the fastest charging four-wheeler retrofitted commercial vehicle platform with a claimed 45 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%. The platform will also come with an 8-year unlimited km warranty and also come equipped with a 4-speed manual gearbox.
Log9 says its InstaCharged battery tech will provide nine-time faster charging, performance and battery life while helping optimise charging infrastructure utilisation and operational profitability of CVs.
Northway Motorsport meanwhile already offers a plethora of EV conversion and range extending products for select models on sale in India. These include conversion kits for the likes of the Tata Ace and Maruti Ignis and range extender battery options for the now discontinued Mahindra e2O.
