Lucid Air Dream Edition To Get Two Variants; Performance And Range

- The Dream edition gets two variants.
- The performance variant will have 764 km range and 1,095 bhp
- The range variant will have 832 km range and 920 bhp
The Lucid Air Dream Edition is one of the most anticipated cars of 2021 and finally it is coming to fruition. Lucid Motors have already revealed that the Dream Edition is already sold out, but interestingly it will be giving its users a choice between performance and range. There will be a model that will offer a model with 1,095 bhp of power and will have 764 kilometres of range. Then there will be the range model which will have slightly less power at 920 bhp but will have a higher 832-kilometre range.

Lucid Motors has revealed while officially the EPA hasn't rated the range of the Dream Edition variants but it has estimated what the EPA figures are going to be like. Lucid Motors predicts that the projected range is based on a car that's equipped with 19-inch wheels.
"Dream Edition Performance will feature a powertrain optimized for speed and acceleration, with 1,111 horsepower. Dream Edition Range will deliver 933 horsepower while embodying Lucid's exacting focus on maximizing range. EPA range certification is currently in process and will be announced for each version of the Dream Edition when complete. Although the official EPA ranges are not yet available, Lucid recently completed a real-world evaluation drive with Motor Trend," the company said.

The Lucid Air was first unveiled at the New York Auto Show
"During the drive, a pair of Dream Edition Range cars drove from Los Angeles to San Francisco at highway speeds via central California, and then back across the San Francisco Bay to Lucid's global headquarters, traveling 445 miles on a single charge. Upon arrival, the cars displayed, respectively, 30 miles and 72 miles of charge remaining (for totals of 475 and 517 miles)," it added.
Originally, the Lucid Air Dream Edition was supposed to give a better balance between power and range. It was supposedly going to have 1065 bhp in power and have 809.5 kilometres in range. Looks like the company has figured that it has plenty of range and wants to strive to compete with the Tesla Model S Plaid which has been making waves recently as the fastest roadworthy production car.
Pete Rawlinson who is the CEO and CTO of Lucid Motors was famously the engineering lead for the original Tesla Model S. The company has raised over a billion dollars from investors in Saudi Arabia which makes it one of the most well capitalised EV startups in the world.
