Mahindra Appoints Pratap Bose To Head Its New Global Design Organisation

- Pratap Bose joins Mahindra as Executive VP and Chief Design Officer
- Prior to joining Mahindra, he was the Head of Design at Tata Motors
- Pratap will head both the global and India design centres of Mahindra
We were the first ones to tell you that ex-Tata Motors Design Chief, Pratap Bose will be joining Mahindra Group to lead the company global design venture. Affirming our report, Mahindra & Mahindra today announced appointing Pratap Bose as the Executive Vice President and Chief Design Officer to lead its newly formed Global Design organisation. Bose will work out of the company new global design centre, Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (M.A.D.E), which is being set up in Coventry in the West Midlands, U.K. Bose will head both the UK design centre as well as the existing Mahindra India Design Studio (M.I.D.S).

Pratap Bose will report to Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director, Auto and Farm Sectors, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. Commenting on the new appointment, Jejurikar said, "We are at an inflection point in our Auto and Farm Sectors growth journey as we accelerate our transformative initiatives. Our robust pipeline of 23 new products that will be launched in the next five years would bring our design and advanced engineering capability across automotive, farm equipment and two-wheelers to the fore. Having Pratap on the team will strengthen our design capability, enhance our products and widen our customer base. We are very excited to welcome him on board and look forward to writing a new chapter in Mahindra's rich product legacy."
In this role, Pratap will be responsible for both M.A.D.E and M.I.D.S and will oversee design of all key business segments

Mahindra's new Global Design organisation includes both, the upcoming UK design centre, and the existing Mahindra India Design Studio (M.I.D.S). In his new role, Pratap will be responsible for overseeing the design of all key business segments such as authentic SUVs including Born Electric Vehicle (BEV), LCV products (under 3.5 Tonne), Last Mile Mobility (LMM), Large CVs, Peugeot Scooters (France) and Tractors & Farm Machines.

The new design centre will be operational from July 1, 2021, and it will be a part of the company's global design network, which also includes the Mahindra Design Studio in Mumbai, India, and Pininfarina Design in Turin, Italy. Mahindra has earlier said that the new advanced design centre is a strategic enhancement to the company's design capabilities. The company also claims that M.A.D.E will help sharpen Mahindra's product designs and technology.
Before joining Mahindra, Pratap Bose was the Head of Design at Tata Motors, where he worked for 14 years

As for Pratap Bose, an alumnus of Royal College of Art, London and National Institute of Design, India, he joins Mahindra with over 20 years of global automotive design experience. Before this, he was part of Tata Motors for 14 years and there he headed the carmaker's design division, responsible for popular products like the Tiago, Nexon Altroz, Harrier and the new Safari. Earlier he had worked with Piaggio, Italy and Daimler Chrysler, Japan.
