Mahindra Produced Over 20,300 SUVs In June 2021
The home-grown utility vehicle manufacturer produced 20,304 SUVs in the country last month, registering a triple-digit growth as compared to 8,316 units produced in the corresponding month last year.

Mahindra & Mahindra has announced production figures for the month of June 2021. The Indian automaker produced 20,304 passenger vehicles last month, witnessing a growth of 144 per cent against 8,316 units manufactured in the same month last year. Compared to 10,217 SUVs manufactured in May 2021, the home-grown automaker witnessed a month-on-month (M-o-M) growth of 98.7 per cent. Do note that the country was under a near-total lockdown in May 2021, affecting production. It was only in June that we started to see the lockdown being eased. So, the abnormal growth could be considered as an anomaly or a one-off event.

Production of Commercial Vehicles increased to 15,233 units in June 2021, compared to 8,226 units in June 2020.

As for three-wheelers and light commercial vehicles, the company manufactured 913 units last month against 70 units produced in the same month last year. Compared to 1,388 units manufactured in May 2021, the company registered a month-on-month (M-o-M) decline of 34 per cent.

In June 2021, the automaker manufactured 238 units of the Treo electric three-wheeler in India. Compared to 120 electric three-wheelers produced in May 2021, the company recorded a Month-on-Month growth of 98 per cent. In June 2020, the production of Treo EV stood at zero. Coming to Commercial Vehicles, the company recorded a growth of 85 per cent to 15,233 units in June 2021, compared to 8,226 units in June 2020.

As for sales, the company's overall auto sales (passenger vehicles+ commercial vehicles+ exports) for June 2021 stood at 32,964 units compared to 19,358 units, recording a Y-o-Y growth of 70.2 per cent. Mahindra's Utility Vehicle (UV) segment accounted for 16,636 units in June 2021, registering a 109 per cent growth compared to the 7,958 vehicles sold in the same month last year. The company also exported 2607 units from India in May, out of which SUVs accounted for 1044 units.
