Mahindra XUV300 AMT vs Tata Nexon AMT vs Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza AMT: Price Comparison

The Mahindra XUV300 finally received the much awaited automatic option recently. The optional automated manual transmission (AMT) unit is available only on the diesel version currently and is offered on the range-topping trims alone. At present, the subcompact SUV segment has limited options when it comes to a diesel automatic with the Tata Nexon and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza being the other alternatives. The Ford EcoSport and the Hyundai Venue do not get the option of a diesel automatic and will have to sit this one out. Here's a look at how the new Mahindra XUV300 AMT stacks up against its rivals in terms of pricing.
| Variants | Mahindra XUV300 | Tata Nexon | Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza |
|---|---|---|---|
| Top | Rs. 11.50 Lakh | Rs. 10.79 Lakh | Rs. 9.47 Lakh |
| Top+ | Rs. 12.70 Lakh | Rs. 11 Lakh | Rs. 10.42 Lakh |
The Mahindra XUV300 AMT turns out to the most expensive compared to its rivals
The Mahindra XUV300 AMT is priced at Rs. 11.50 lakh for the W8 trim, while the W8 (O) trim will set you back by Rs. 12.70 lakh with all the bells and whistles. That's a Rs. 55,000 increment over the manual variants. In contrast, the Tata Nexon AMT is priced at Rs. 10.79 lakh for the range-topping XZA trim. The dual-tone version meanwhile, is priced at Rs. 11 lakh on the Nexon diesel AMT. Compared to the XUV300, the Nexon AMT is about Rs. 80,000 cheaper and that is likely to influence the buying decision for those who are on a budget.
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza diesel AMT turns out to be the most affordable in this comparison. The range-topping Vitara Brezza ZDi trim is priced at Rs. 9.47 lakh, while the fully loaded ZDi+ trim will set you back by Rs. 10.42 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi). Opting for a dual-tone Vitara Brezza will further add about Rs. 22,000 to the final asking price.

The Tata Nexon AMT is offered in a number of variants and is well packaged too for the price
It is to be noted that the Tata Nexon AMT uses a 6-speed autobox sourced from ZF, while the XUV300 also uses a 6-speed unit sourced from Magneti Marelli. The Vitara Brezza makes do with the 5-speed AMT unit from Marelli as well, and is seen on a number of cars from the manufacturer. In terms of power, XUV300 uses a 1.5-litre oil burner with 115 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque, which makes it the most powerful here. The Tata Nexon uses a 1.5-litre diesel as well tuned for 108 bhp and 260 Nm of peak torque. The Vitara Brezza makes the least power from its 1.3-litre DDiS motor that belts out 89 bhp and peak torque of 200 Nm.
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is the most accessible in terms of pricing but the least powerful too
Both the Tata Nexon and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza offer the option of the AMT unit on its lower variants, which makes for a more accessible price point. Mahindra has missed out on the same for now, but we do expect the automaker to rollout the automatic transmission on the lower variants in the following months. There's also the XUV300 petrol AMT in the works that will be introduced later in the year and will take on the Hyundai Venue and the Ford EcoSport in the segment.
