Mahindra XUV500 Automatic Launched; Prices Start at Rs. 15.36 Lakh

Mahindra XUV500 automatic was launched today at a starting price of Rs. 15.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Navi Mumbai). However, one must note the Mahindra XUV500 AT will be available in dealerships across the country only from December 5, 2015.
The Mahindra XUV500 Automatic does not get any cosmetic changes; its cabin sports black and beige interiors and comes loaded with features like electric sunroof, logo projection lamps on ORVMs, adjustable driver's seat, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic temperature control, electronic stability program (ESP), hill hold and hill descent control, and reverse parking camera, etc..
As far as the powertrain is concerned, the Mahindra SUV continues to be powered by the 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine albeit mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It continues to develop the same performance figures as the manual variant of the Mahindra XUV500 - 140bhp and 330Nm of maximum torque. The Mahindra XUV500 AT's mileage is rated at 13.85Km/l.

Mahindra said it invested about Rs. 58 crore on research and development of the 6-speed transmission and that the gear ratios have been improved to suit Indian roads. Sourced from Aisin (a Japan-based firm), this gearbox also does duty on SsangYong Tivoli and SsangYong Korando C, the carmaker said that it intends to introduce this gearbox in future projects too.

For those who didn't know already, the country's largest utility vehicle maker had also launched the Mahindra Scorpio automatic earlier this year.
