McLaren MSO 650S Confirmed for Production; Debut at Goodwood Festival

McLaren's special projects arm, McLaren Special Operations (MSO) has confirmed that the MSO 650S will indeed go into production. The production plans for the made-to-order McLaren 650S come after the company received an overwhelming response to the MSO 650S Coupe Concept that was put up for display in China earlier this year. To be offered in either a Coupe or Spider bodystyle, McLaren has stated that it will produce only 50 units of the car. The production car will make its global debut, in Spider form, at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed, and will also participate in the famous Hill run.
The bespoke car's exteriors are fitted with a number of carbon fibre styling upgrades with a satin finish, including extended MSO Side Blades. It also gets a three-piece rear bumper with a carbon fibre centre section that sits above a more aggressive rear diffuser. Furthermore, it will ride on a pair of Palladium coloured 10-spoke Super Lightweight alloy wheels, with a unique diamond cut effect to the inside edge of each spoke.

Inside, the MSO 650S sports carbon black leather and Alcantara upholstery, while the stylish satin lacquered carbon fibre detailing extends throughout the driver and passenger zones. In contrast, the air vents and handling and powertrain switchgear on the Active Dynamics Panel receive a gloss finish. A signature dedication plaque mounted to the MSO-branded carbon fibre sill panel completes the enhancements.
The MSO 650S will come with a starting price tag of £252,500 for the Coupe, while the Spider will cost about £272,500. Each one of the 50 MSO 650S models will be delivered with a sketch signed by Frank Stephenson (McLaren Automotive Design Director) and a luxury MSO branded leather holdall. The deliveries will commence by the end of this year.
