For the last couple of years, 7-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has helped Mercedes develop its AMG One hyper car which is set to become the first road worthy car that will use the F1 spec 1.6-litre turbo hybrid power train that is seen in the Mercedes F1 car. The project dates back to September 2017 when it was teased at the Frankfurt auto show when the Mercedes AMG division and its F1 team collaborated on the project. Now with its world premiere set for June 1, basically on Wednesday, the Stuttgart based automaker is teasing the production of the hyper car which will join the likes of the Aston Martin Valkyrie, the GMA T.50.

The last we heard about the car was at the IAA mobility showcase where Mercedes had a lot of future facing products to showcase. Mercedes has hinted that the final variant the car stay true to the original concept with aerodynamic tweaks. This comes after Affalterbach confirmed that the car would be going into production in mid 2022.

There will be just 275 units of car and will be spiritual successor of the CLK GTR which was launched in the mid 90s as Le Mans homologation special car. The AMG One costs $2.7 million and has already been sold out with recent Mercedes world champions Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg being one of the 275 owners of the car.

Its 1.6 litre turbo hybrid engine is combined with four electric motors for over 1,000 bhp of power. It is also the highest revving Mercedes engine as the V6 can go beyond 11,000 rpm and now has a lower idle speed of 1,200 rpm from 5,000 rpm. It can do 200 km/h in less than 6 seconds and has a top speed of 350 km/h. It has also run purely on electric power with a range o 25 km and its internal combustion engine will need to be rebuilt after 50,000 km something that is quite common for an F1 engine.

In 2018, Tobias Moers, the former boss of AMG and most recently the former CEO of Aston Martin had said that the AMG One would be able to beat the Nordschleife times of the Porsche 919 hybrid EVO which was at 5:19.
