MV Agusta To Introduce New Four-Cylinder Platform

- First new four-cylinder MV Agusta expected in 2018
- 1200 cc MV Agusta Brutale to be launched
- MV Agusta has bought back 25 per cent shares from Mercedes-AMG
MV Agusta has confirmed plans to introduce an all-new four cylinder platform for 2018, possibly with the introduction of a new, four-cylinder Brutale in the near future. The announcement comes after the Italian manufacturer officially announced that it had repurchased 25 per cent share of the company held by Mercedes-AMG since 2014. With that out of the way, MV Agusta will now focus its strength in the premium sportbike market by concentrating its future investments on an all-new four-cylinder platform. The first motorcycle model built on this platform is expected to be launched as soon as sometime next year.

MV Agusta already has a four-cylinder engine which powers the current MV Agusta F4. However, it's the naked street bikes like the Brutale, which are MV's big sellers, and that's the reason why a new 1200 cc Brutale could be the first of the new product range to hit the market. But the new four-cylinder platform is expected to spawn a range of models, and in all likelihood, a four-cylinder Dragster as well as a four-cylinder Turismo Veloce could also be in the works for a later launch.

MV Agusta has gone through several ups and downs with the company's fortunes in the past. But the company completed an intensive restructuring process, both financially and strategically, by consolidating its position in the super premium sportbike segment and with a focussed product pipeline. The success of the new product range led to a turnaround with the company back to a positive result for the 2017 fiscal year. Now, with plans afoot for the new four-cylinder platform, MV Agusta seems set for exciting times ahead, with a completely new product range in the making.
