The next-gen Ford Mustang will likely get a hybrid powertrain.
Now we know that the new Mustang will be quite forward-looking and will adopt cleaner powertrains. Ford is likely to give it a hybrid powertrain to keep up with tougher fuel economy regulations, but there'll be other options in the range as well. And then, there are also rumours that the new Mustang will switch to all-wheel-drive (AWD) as well which will be a first in history. Now the underpinning of the new-gen Ford Mustang will be upgraded for sure, but it won't be an all-new platform. The 2.3-litre Ecoboost or the 5.0-litre V8 will be included in the range and there have been speculation of a 5.2-litre supercharged V8 as well.

The next-gen Ford Mustang is likely to be an all-wheel-drive (AWD) car.
At the time Ford India announced that it will stop making cars in India, the carmaker made it very clear that a restructuring is underway, and it won't close all shops in India. The American auto giant will sell completely built units (CBUs) or imported premium models in our market and the Ford Mustang is on the cards. In fact, Ford will likely launch the current-gen Mustang in India in the second half of 2022 and the new-gen model is expected to follow after its global launch.
