New-Gen Maruti Celerio Teaser Out; Bookings Open Today

Maruti Suzuki India has announced opening bookings for the soon-to-be-launched new-gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio. Interested customers can now pre-book the car for a token of Rs. 11,000 either through the Maruti Suzuki Arena website or by visiting the nearest authorised Maruti Suzuki showroom. Along with the booking announcement, the carmaker has also released the first teaser image of the new-gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio, giving us the first glimpse of the new-gen compact hatchback, which is expected to be launched later this month. The new Celerio also comes with the claim of being India's most fuel-efficient petrol car.

Announcing the bookings open for the All-New Celerio, Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, "Since its launch, Celerio took the market by storm with its unique style and the revolutionary Auto Gear Shift (AGS) Technology, that helped democratise the two-pedal technology in the country. Brand Celerio has since then stood for new age technology, modern design and practicality. Today's urban, progressive and aspirational customers, look for lively, active and vivid products to match their persona. The All-New Celerio with a new petrol engine, vibrant and stylish design, and with a host of segment-first features is an all-rounder. We are confident that the All-New Celerio will once again energize the compact segment."

Visually, the car gets a completely new silhouette, featuring a more tall-boy-ish design with a raised hood and all-new styling. The model in the photo is the top-spec variant, which gets features like a new grille, new headlamps, a new bumper, body-coloured door handles and ORVMs with integrated turn signal lights. Spy photos have revealed that the car will also come with alloy wheels, new taillamps, and a rear windshield wiper.

Talking about the car's engine, CV Raman, Chief Technical Officer (Engineering), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, "Powered by Next-Gen K-Series Dual Jet, Dual VVT Engine with first in segment Idle Start-Stop Technology, All-New Celerio will be the 'Most Fuel-Efficient Petrol Car in India'." The outgoing Celerio came with a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre three-cylinder K10B petrol engine. The motor develops 66 bhp and 90 Nm of peak torque, while mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and an optional 5-speed AMT unit.
