General Motors has teased the next-generation Spark, known as the Beat in India, ahead of its world debut on April 2, 2015 at both, the New York and Seoul Auto Shows.

The teaser image of the car looks similar to the undisguised Spark that was spied last month in Korea. Although the Korean/US and Indian/Brazilian model might not share platforms, the design of both the models could be similar since the existing models also look alike. If reports are to be believed, the US/Korean model will be based on the new Open Karl/ Vauxhall Viva, while the Indian and Brazilian model will be built on a new platform - Amber - that has been developed specially for the emerging markets.

Talking about the design, GM says that the new-gen model is sleeker and has a more aerodynamic profile. The company also says that Chevy's signature design cues will give the new Spark a "more sophisticated aesthetic that reflects the changing tastes of the global mini-car market."

"The new Spark's design has evolved and grown up with the segment. The youthful whimsy of the original Spark is still in its genes, but it is conveyed in more traditional proportions that reinforce the customer's refined expectations," Michael Simcoe, GM International vice president of Design.

Talking about the engine, General Motors will fit a new 3-cylinder 1.0-litre petrol engine in the new-gen model.
