Renault Kaptur Compact Crossover Might Come To India Soon

- The new Renault Kaptur is a 5-seater compact crossover
- The car will come with AWD and won't be a sub-4 metre vehicle
- There are a lot of differences between the Captur and the new Kaptur
Renault Kaptur, the all-new compact crossover from the French carmaker, first broke cover in Russia. While both is name and appearance, the new 5-seater crossover Kaptur is similar to the already on sale Renault Captur, there are is a lot of difference between the two cars. And it is the all-new Renault Kaptur that is likely to come to India soon.

Renault Kaptur Front
As mentioned before, the Captur and the Kaptur are two different cars and the key difference between the two is that the latter comes with an all-wheel drive system, which the Captur never got. Though there might be some similarities in design when compared to the Captur, the new Renault Kaptur looks a lot more aggressive and that's thanks to the muscular front bumper which is more rugged and bulky and nicely integrated with a set of C-shaped DRL's.
The new Renault Kaptur is also 210mm longer than the its European twin measuring in at 4333mm in length. This means it wont be a sub-4 metre and we can expect some good boot space at the rear. It also comes with a locking centre differential, elevated ride height and heavy-duty suspension, so overall the package is suited for a decent soft-roader.

Renault Kaptur Cabin (Manual)
The cabin though is a familiar place as what we can see from the images is a simple yet clean looking interior. It comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment and climate control which is similar to what we see in the updated Renault Duster in India. The digital instrument cluster does look similar to the Kwid and that's interesting as this sharing of components with a car which was 98 per cent localized in India.

Renault Kaptur Cabin (Automatic)
The specifications of the Renault Kaptur have not been revealed the technical specifications of the car but images of the cabin reveal that there is a 6-speed automatic variant which will be on offer. The car will hit the Russian market in 2017 and will be manufactured at the Renault's Moscow plant. The car might also be showcased at the 2016 Sao Paulo International Motor Show later this year and if reports are to believed, then Renault will also try to bring this car to India. The compact and sub-compact SUV segment has been growing in India and Renault will certainly want a piece of this pie and the Kaptur fits the bill. When launched, the Kaptur will go up against the likes of the Mahindra TUV300 and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
