New Volvo V60 Images Leaked Ahead Of Official Debut

- The new V60 shows a striking resemblance to its bigger sibling the V90
- The Volvo V60 wagon is built on the SPA platform
- The new V6 might get a plug-in hybrid version
Volvo Cars is all set to introduce the new Volvo V60 estate on February 21, 2018. The Swedish carmakers recently released a teaser video announcing the car's imminent arrival. Now, images of the new-gen Volvo V60 has leaked online revealing what the car will actually look like. The images are quite low in resolution so it's difficult to pinpoint keener details but they appear to be shot for some sort of video commercial or AV. Having said that, the V60 in these images show a striking resemblance to its bigger sibling the Volvo V90, and most likely the cars will share a few features and styling cues.
Judging by the images, the upcoming Volvo V60 appears to be nearly as big as the V90 but with small proportions. Although most of the exterior features like the vertically-stacked LED taillamps, the tailgate, and the profile of the car looks very much like the V90. The images do reveal a slightly different rear bumper and a surprisingly a quad-exhaust setup, similar to the new XC660. Other feature will include - new alloys, signature Thor's Hammers LED daytime running lamps, the prominent multi-slat grille, a long bonnet and much more that are unique to Volvo estate wagons.

Volvo V60 is based on the Scalable Product Architecture a.k.a. SPA platform
Like the Volvo V90 estate, the upcoming V60 wagon will also be based on the company's versatile, Scalable Product Architecture a.k.a. the SPA platform. In fact, all the new Volvo models based on the SPA platform have been quite impressive, which indicates that the V60 might see some considerable popularity, at least in the European market, which has a greater demand for station wagons.
Engine options are yet to be revealed, but the new V60 will get four engine options, which will include the 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine that makes 233 bhp and develops a peak torque of 480 Nm. The V60 is also said to be a part of the company's electrification plan and might get a plug-in hybrid version. This will include a 2.0-liter petrol engine tuned with an electric motor to provide a combined output of 400 bhp and 640 NM of torque. An electric version is also in the pipeline.
