Next Generation Honda Jazz Image Leaked

The next generation Honda Jazz is slated for a global debut later this year. However, ahead of the unveil, a leaked image of the new hatchback has made its way online revealing the all-new design. The leaked image is that of the 2020 Honda Jazz Type-R and reveals the completely new design language on the offering. The new Jazz will be showcased at the 2020 Tokyo Motor Show early next year. As the image suggests, the new gen Jazz gets a complete redesign, while retaining the generous proportions that it is known for.
Notable changes on the 2020 Honda Jazz include the new sweptback headlamp design with a thick chrome bar on the honeycomb mesh grille. The car isn't dramatically different in profile from the outgoing model but it does get a completely new look in comparison. Also prominent is the glasshouse area that has grown bigger and will allow more light to enter the cabin lending a roomier feel. The Type-R version does bring some sportier elements to the exterior including the bumper, side skirts, larger alloy wheels, and a roof mounted spoiler. The grille also gets the red Honda logo, which remains specific to the sportier models in the company's stable.

The current generation Honda Jazz is likely to be on sale till next year in India
While the rear isn't visible, expect to see new wraparound LED taillights and a revised bumper as part of the changes. The 2020 Honda Jazz will also get a completely new interior and previous spy images have conveyed a floating touchscreen infotainment system, new steering wheel and instrument console as part of the changes. As always, expect Honda to utilise space more efficiently on the Jazz, allowing more room at the front and rear.
The next generation Honda Jazz will share its underpinnings with the upcoming sixth generation Honda City. The new model will get the i-MMD twin-motor hybrid powertrain in Japan, in addition to a 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.2-litre i-VTEC naturally aspiration petrol engine. A 1.5-litre motor will make it under the hood of the Jazz Type-R and will reportedly churn out up to 220 bhp. That sure sounds promising!
That said, while India will get the next generation Honda Jazz, odds are the Type-R version will be given a miss. Instead, Honda Car India is likely to bring the hatchback back with the 1.2-litre petrol i-VTEC and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engines that will be upgraded to BS6 emission norms. Transmission options could include the CVT, and a 6-speed manual. The next generation Honda Jazz will go on sale internationally next year, while the India launch can be expected sometime in 2021.
