Ola Electric Plans 6 New Electric Products For India By 2027

Ola Electric is signing off 2022 with a bang as Bhavish Aggarwal announces the roadmap for the technology firm as he revealed new electric products for the Indian market. After launching the much-anticipated Ola S1 electric scooter in a slew of options, the Bengaluru-based company will gradually scale up its product portfolio with new products in the electric 2-/3-/ and 4-wheeler segment with the first product coming up next year. Aggarwal announced that the company will launch many more electric two-wheelers including a new electric two-wheeler, an electric motorcycle, and a range of premium electric motorcycles. 

In 2023 and 2024, Ola Electric will foray into different electric two-wheeler segments starting with a brand-new product mass-market electric scooter, followed by an electric motorcycle, as well as premium electric motorcycles. He also said that all the components for the electric products will be made in India from the Ola FutureFactory while battery cells will be sourced from South Korea-based LG Chem. 

Additionally, Ola Electric will also foray into the electric 4-wheeler segment with its first electric car coming up in 2024, with a chance of seeing the prototype later next year. Aggarwal also emphasised that Ola Electric will look to penetrate other EV segments as well in the coming years and is expected to consist of 6 EVs in different segments by 2027 including an electric SUV and a mass-market car. 

Ola Electric is also actively considering vertical integration into cell technologies and localising relevant supply chains. For this, the company will commission its cell manufacturing plant with a 5 GWh capacity by the end of 2023, with an ambition to install 100 GWh over the course of this decade. Moreover, Ola Electric will also look to expand into overseas markets with an export strategy for markets like South East Asia, Latin America, Europe, Africa etc.
