Rivian VP Of Engineering Vidya Rajagopalan Takes Delivery Of R1S Electric SUV

- The electric car maker has started to deliver its 2nd car
- Its VP of engineering was one of the first buyers of the car
- The car will be slowly rolling out from its production facilities
Rivian has been scaling up its production for the last couple of months and now it has started to deliver its second car - the R1S. One of the first customers of the car is its own VP of engineering - Vidya Rajagopalan whose photo was posted by the company's official Twitter account.
"We continue to ramp R1S into our production line and are actively making deliveries of this vehicle," a company representative said. This is notable because till now, Rivian had only revealed to have delivered 2 R1S electric SUVs as of December 2021. The post revealed that four new owners of the R1S had been added.

Rajagopalan was seen posing next to a launch edition green R1S. This comes after Rivian revealed R1S reservation holders would start receiving their cars from March 2022 onwards with the first wave of the deliveries expected in summer and autumn.
In Q1 2022, Rivian revealed that it had delivered 1,227 vehicles and built 2,553 in the first quarter of the year. The R1S model starts at $72,500 for the Explore edition which gets a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration and a standard battery pack offering 418 km as per the US EPA.
This model, however, will only be shipped in 2024 and customers are just getting the "Launch Edition" right now which starts at $84,500 and gets a large battery pack and has a range of 508 km with a quad motor all-wheel-drive package.
