Highlights

Skoda Auto India today announced the name of its new sedan in the country and it will be called the Slavia. The Slavia will be introduced in the compact sedan segment. The Skoda Slavia will go up against the likes of the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. This is the second product under the India 2.0 project and the name comes with a whole lot of tradition and legacy. Starting in 1896, one year after the founding of the company, Vaclav Laurin and Vaclav Klement successfully marketed their first, jointly developed bicycles under the Slavia name and the compact sedan, according to the company, will ‘set out to define a new era in the Indian market'.

Skoda will launch the new sedan in 2022 but we will see it make its world premiere in India by the end of this year. Zac Hollis, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India, said, “Rich in tradition, the Slavia name will now once again mark the start of a new era for the Skoda brand, in the Indian market. The Slavia will bring forth impeccable build quality, reliability and driving experience.”

Skoda has been extensively testing the Slavia sedan in Europe

The Kushaq SUV already has had its fair share of success in the country with over 10000 bookings for it already and the Slavia too will help boost sales in the country. For now, there's no information about what will power the Slavia compact sedan, but we'll know more about it very soon.
