Skoda Slavia, the newest offering from Skoda Auto will make its world premiere in India, on November 18, 2021. The new compact sedan is built on the company's localised MQB A0-IN platform, which also underpins the Skoda Kushaq compact SUV and Volkswagen's Taigun. The new Skoda Slavia will be the first sedan to be built on the modular architecture, and we have already driven the prototype version of the car. You can find the review on the carandbike website. Deliveries for the new Slavia sedan will commence in early 2022, and it will go up against the likes of the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

Like the platform, the new Skoda Slavia will also share its powertrains with the Kushaq. This means the car will get the same turbocharged 1.0-litre TSI three-cylinder engine and the 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI petrol engines. The former makes 113 bhp and 175 Nm of peak torque, and it comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and an optional 6-speed automatic torque converter. The bigger 1.5-litre motor makes 148 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed DSG automatic unit.

Visually, we would expect the car to look like the baby Octavia
So far, we have only seen the camouflaged version of the car, which means we won't be able to comment on the design and styling of the car. However, we would expect the car to look like the baby Octavia. In terms of dimensions, the Slavia is 4,541 mm long, 1,752 mm wide, and 1,487 mm tall. The car also comes with a wheelbase of 2,651 mm, which is the longest wheelbase among all its aforementioned rivals. As for features, we expect the car to come with LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED taillamps, sporty alloy wheels and well-laid-out cabin with premium interior and smart features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, auto climate control, sunroof rear AC vents and more.

Like in the Kushaq , the Skoda Slavia with the 1.5-litre engine comes with active cylinder technology (ACT) which automatically shuts down two cylinders when the engine is at cruising speeds, thus enhancing the fuel efficiency. The car will also get up to 6 airbags and a bunch of other safety features.
