- Musk revealed that Isaacson was writing a book on him
- Isaacson has been shadowing Musk for the last couple of weeks
- Isaacson is best known for his autobiography on Steve Jobs
Former Time Magazine editor Walter Isaacson famously spent a lot of time with Steve Jobs in his last days writing his seminal autobiography chronically the life of the legendary Apple co-founder and CEO who passed away in October 2011. Now, Elon Musk has revealed that Isaacson has been shadowing him for a couple of weeks as he is writing a book on him. Musk, of course, is the co-founder of Tesla, SpaceX and the Boring Company and is the second richest person on the planet.
undefinedIf you're curious about Tesla, SpaceX & my general goings on, @WalterIsaacson is writing a biography
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) August 5, 2021
Isaacson has written several books on influential figures like Benjamin Franklin, Henry Kissinger, Albert Einstein and the Apple co-founder Steve Jobs who himself persuaded Isaacson to write the book after he discovered he had cancer.
"If you're curious about Tesla, SpaceX and my general going on, @WalterIsaacson is writing a biography," Musk said in a tweet. This comes after a couple of unofficial autobiographies have already been written with a new one from Wall Street Journal reporter Tim Higgins claiming that Musk wanted to become the CEO of Apple and has displeased the founder of the world's most valuable automaker.
undefinedYeah, they're all good, but I particularly liked his biography of Ben Franklin

Musk has said that he may even write an autobiography of his storied career himself. Musk also stated that he has been a fan of Isaacson's work and appreciated his book on Benjamin Franklin. Isaacson's autobiography on Jobs was also the basis for the Aaron Sorkin movie on the Apple co-founder, a role that was portrayed by Michael Fassbender.
