Uber, the US-based online taxi-aggregator application, is set to resume business in Delhi. The startup applied for a radio taxi license a month and half after it was banned following allegations of rape of a passenger by one of the drivers on its network.

Uber stuck to its ground that it was a technology providing company and not a transport operator for a while, but were left with no option other than giving up their stance since the Delhi transport authorities refused to change their position. You should know that Delhi is the only city from its markets across the globe where the company has applied for such a license.

The transport department said the government will grant approval and issue letter of intent within a week of the submission of application, provided the paperwork is in order. Once that is done, Uber will need to present a bank guarantee to obtain a license.

Now that is back on the roads, Uber promises to improve safety via ironclad driver checks, an in-app emergency button and a dedicated incident response team.
