Virtual VW Golf GTIs Celebrate Germany's FIFA World Cup Triumph

The 2014 FIFA World Cup is done and Germany's name is etched in history. The German team has been receiving congratulations from all over the world, including German car manufacturers. Volkswagen, for example, decided to release a video featuring virtual Golf GTIs recreating the only goal scored in the World Cup final.

Using 22 virtual Golf GTIs, VW recreated the moment when Mario Gotze scored the only goal of the 2014 World Cup final. A spectacular pass followed by a well-controlled take, and the ball found the net on the second touch in the second extra time.

The performance model of the Golf is seen sliding through the grass and heading the ball home for a goal. Volkswagen sure thinks that Gotze too had the 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine providing him with all the power he needed to place the ball in the right hand corner of the net.

The video is certainly worth a watch, and though this is virtual, a football match with cars sounds like a brilliant idea to us!
