Volkswagen Compact Sedan To Make Global Debut In India On March 8

Volkswagen is all set to reveal to the world its new compact sedan. The car, likely to be called Virtus, will make its global debut in the country on March 8. We still haven't had a glimpse of the compact sedan, but we will see it in the flesh very soon. The sedan is based on the company's MQB A0 IN platform, which has been made specifically for products which will cater to the Indian market. The global debut will come hot-on-the-heels of the launch of the Skoda Slavia which is based on the same platform and with whom, it will share a host of components.

The left hand drive version of the car is already being tested in India
We already brought you spy images of VW's compact sedan, which is currently been tested in both the right hand drive and left hand drive versions, which basically gives us an understanding that the car, like the Taigun, will be exported to other markets as well.

VW's compact sedan, will come with two turbocharged petrol engines which will be borrowed from the Taigun SUV. So, it will be the 1-litre and the 1.5-litre turbo petrol motors that will power the compact sedan and we expect the power to be the same as the Taigun. We expect the car to come with a host of features and creature comforts. We will know more about the car very soon and when launched it will go up against the likes of the Skoda Slavia, Honda City among others.
