Volkswagen Partners With Zoomcar To Provide Cars For Shared Mobility

Volkswagen India has announced its partnership with self-drive rental platform Zoomcar to lease its car to customers. The automaker will be selling the Volkswagen Polo through this channel through Zoomcar's ZAP subscribe model. Under the subscription based system, customers can lease the car at a fixed monthly fee while also gaining on a host of other benefits. The manufacturer has handed over 200 Polos to Zoomcar as part of the tie-up. Volkswagen says that consumers are gradually moving towards shared mobility and it is expected that India will be leading in this space by 2030.
Commenting on this announcement, Steffen Knapp, MD, Volkswagen Passenger Cars said, "Through this partnership with Zoomcar, Volkswagen India enters into shared mobility and subscription services. As a brand, world over, we intend to transform the mobility sector by participating in various business models that drive growth, offer convenience and heightened customer satisfaction. We're delighted to offer our best-selling carline - Volkswagen Polo through this channel, which enables prospective customers the accessibility to a premium, safe and fun-to-drive hatch."

Speaking on this partnership, Greg Moran, Co-Founder and CEO, Zoomcar said, "Zoomcar is thrilled to partner with Volkswagen to offer its vehicles on India's only shared subscription marketplace, ZAP Subscribe. Given Volkswagen's long history as an innovator within the automotive space, we felt they were a natural partner as we look to provide an affordable, flexible alternative to traditional vehicle ownership."
Shared mobility has been increasing rapidly across the globe, especially in India with growth drivers like increasing urbanisation, rise in living standards and enhanced disposable income. It also helps reduce ownership costs on vehicles while reducing the financial overheads.
Apart from the Volkswagen Polo, the German automaker also aims to offer other vehicles from its stable via the subscription platform. The company will also provide Zoomcar customised financial, maintenance and repair services for an enhanced ownership experience.
