Volvo V40 Facelift and S90 Launch Confirmed for This Festive Season

Further expanding its portfolio in India, Swedish carmaker Volvo Auto recently launched the new S60 Cross Country Sedan. At the launch event the carmaker confirmed that it will be bringing two more cars in the country this year - the V40 facelift and the much awaited S90 Sedan. Both the cars will be launched in India in the second half of 2016, just around the festive season. While the confirmed day hasn't been revealed yet, we expect the V40 facelift to be launched in September and the S90 in October 2016.

Volvo S90 Front
Both the Volvo V40 facelfit and the S90 sedan have been designed as per the company's latest design language, which we earlier saw in the new Volvo XC90. While both the updated V40 and the all-new S90 share their style cues with the XC90, it is the latter that bares most of the similarities. The S90 comes with a new design language that sets it apart from the rest of its sedan cousins. Instead of the usual chunky and heavy-shouldered look, Volvo has gone with a sleeker and more elegant approach for the S90, which sets it more in line with its German competitors.
Some of the striking exterior features include - the signature Volvo grille, stylish headlamp cluster with projector units and Thor's Hammer-style LED DRLs, large air intakes on both sides and a wide air dam below it. Even the cabin's trim and colours show some key resemblance to the XC90.

Volvo V40 Facelift
On the other hand The V40 facelift comes with a number of style additions that further uplifts its premium persona. Some of the most prominent updates that will find in the car include - the new grille meshes featuring the Volvo Iron Mark, the new XC90-style 'Thor's Hammer' LED DRLS, and the new 'rank marks', which visualises trim levels and variants and a total of eight new wheels across the V40, R-Design and V40 Cross Country models. As for the interiors the updated Volvo V40 takes cues that can be seen award-winning Volvo Concept Estate. The car gets new upholstery design called City Weave which will be complimented with a new Charcoal/Blond steering wheel option.

Volvo S90 Side Profile
Coming to powertrain options, the India-bound Volvo S90 will feature the same 2.0-litre diesel engine that powers the new XC90 and the D5 engine as well. At the same time both the V40 hatch and V40 Cross Country facelift remains unchanged under the hood and continues to be powered by the same 2.0-litre 150bhp turbocharged diesel and comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
