Volvo XC90 SUV Launched in India; Prices Start From Rs. 64.9 Lakh

The new XC90 will be available in the D5 Inscription and Momentum trims and the former is priced at Rs. 77.9 lakh and the latter at Rs. 64.9 lakh (both prices ex-showroom Mumbai)
This is the 2nd generation of the XC90 and is a make or break model for the Geely-owned carmaker. It's coming after a long time - 12 years since the first generation - and the company really wants to cash in on this SUV.

The XC90 is based on the new scalable product architecture or SPA, which will spawn a host of new products. There is no doubt in our mind that the SUV looks extremely good and looks proportionate. Not too tall, broad or long. The XC90 sports the face of Volvo's new design direction, with an impressive grille that houses the iron mark, and the striking all-LED headlights.
Inside the XC90 gets a fresh and roomy cabin. Volvo has done away with all the buttons and now the central console has only 8 of them. The main focus is on the iPad-like touchscreen control panel that makes up most of the central console. The home screen is horizontally divided into four zones: Navigation, Music, Phone and Sound Experience. Each of these tabs can be expanded by simply touching it.

Under the hood the XC90 comes powered by the 2.0-litre, 4 Cylinder, automatic 8-Speed AWD with 225bhp and a whopping 470Nm torque.
Tomas Ernberg, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India said," The wait is finally over now. With all-new Volvo XC90, we are not just launching a car, but re-launching our brand. An example of Volvo-by-Volvo, the new XC90 marks the beginning of a new chapter for Volvo Cars, capturing its future design direction, incorporating its own range of new technologies and utilizing its new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA). Volvo has invested in USD 11Bn to develop the product and engine platforms over the past 3 years, The XC90 paves the way for a portfolio of exciting new cars to come in the following years."

However, it is the Sensus system, however, that's going to be the big game changer for Volvo. It integrates with Apple Car Play, it also has the android functionality that's coming very soon, and of course it hooks up to all your devices very easily. You can access all your information, and it has voice commands that have been designed in a way where you can use regular phrases, just talk to the car - like you would talk normally.
The Volvo XC90 will take on the likes of the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GL & ML Class, Land Rover Discovery Sport, and the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. But its chief rival will be the very successful Audi Q7.
