Yamaha Motors leasing company Moto Business Service India has partnered with FullFily, a Chennai based all electric sustainable energy powered EV vehicle company for last mile delivery services. Under the partnership Yamaha will supply 50 units of the Omega Seiki Rage+ electric three-wheeler and 200 units of the Hero Electric Nyx electric scooter to FullFily for last mile delivery services.
MBSI says that it currently has a goal of managing a fleet of over 2,000 electric vehicles in the state of Tamil Nadu including for FullFily and other partners.
Shoji Shiraishi, Managing Director, MBSI said, “We are extremely excited to officially kick start our operations in the EV sector in Chennai by partnering with FullFily. India is seeing rapid growth in sales of Electric Vehicles (EVs) as manufacturers and users rush to switch from gasoline-powered vehicles due to the rising cost of fuel. Additionally, there are key signs of momentum in this key potential market of 1.4 billion Indians. We will continue to onboard electric vehicles across multiple cities and generate employment avenues for the youth of India.”
MBSI will supply 250 EVs to FullFily including 200 Hero Electric Nyx scooters and 50 Omega Seiki Rage+ electric three-wheeler
MBSI, which focuses on providing vehicle leasing and support services, says this is their ninth investment this year with other notable partners including ride hailing platform Rapido, two-wheeler rental companies Royal Brothers India and Rentelo, and several last mile delivery companies based out of Delhi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
MBSI says that it will be investing Rs 100 crore into its fleet of vehicles this year with plans to have a fleet of 10 lakh vehicles on the road by 2028. MBSI says it plans to expand its portfolio of vehicles including two-, three- and four-wheelers for use by last mile delivery services and/or taxis on lease. The company has said that it will be looking to procure both electric and conventional internal combustion models.
Yamaha Motor India, the Indian two-wheeler manufacturing arm of the Japanese major has a range of two-wheelers, but has no electric two-wheeler yet. The company has said that it is working on a plan to develop electric two-wheelers, and the first product could be an electric scooter, expected to be introduced sometime after 2025.
