- The Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid is powered by a 689 cc engine
- The engine is shared with the Yamaha MT-07

One of the most exciting displays at the 2017 EICMA - the Milan Motorcycle Show - this year was the middleweight adventure prototype from Yamaha - the Yamaha Tenere World Raid. The Tenere 700 World Raid carries forward from the Yamaha T7 concept which was unveiled a year earlier at the 2016 EICMA. The World Raid will be used by a team of Yamaha riders who will take the bike across America, Australia, Africa and Europe. As things stand today, it's still a concept though, and there's no word on when a production model will finally take shape. Here's a close look at the Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid.

So far, there are no details on whether Yamaha has reduced the tuning and output figures on the Tenere 700 Word Raid to give it a stronger mid-range and make it more accessible to even new riders on their first adventure bike.

The Tenere 700 promises a lightweight adventure bike for all kinds of terrain
- The steel frame, which has also been taken from the MT-07, has been reworked and improved, and according to Yamaha, the reworked frame achieves "optimised on-road and off-road handling." So, the geometry may have been changed and the frame reinforced.
- The upside down front forks and a monoshock rear are designed to perform well in all conditions.

The Tenere 700 takes inspiration from Yamaha's Dakar Rally bikes
- The Tenere 700 World Raid features the same rally-bike silhouette of the T7, but has been made more practical. So, there's a lower seat height to make it accessible to a wide range of adventure riders, and the fuel tank has been developed to give a useful range between refills.

The Tenere 700 prototype will be ridden across some of the toughest terrain in the world
- Carbon fibre is used for the side panels, front fender and the one-piece rear tail, so expect the Tenere 700 to be lightweight, somewhere around 170-180 kg or so. The headlight is inspired by Yamaha's Dakar Rally machines, with a four-projector headlight assembly.
