Isuzu to Set Up Truck Manufacturing Plant in Andhra Pradesh

Japanese automaker Isuzu Motors is likely to soon set up a truck manufacturing plant at Sri City SEZ in Andhra Pradesh. Isuzu vice-president Masanori Khatayama discussed the matter in a meeting today with visiting state Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who is on a tour to Japan.
Naidu visited Isuzu Motors and met other officials of the company as well, a state government release said here. Noting that the company has 10 truck buildings plants worldwide, Khatayama said a new plant would be set up soon.
The 'Sri City SEZ' in Andhra Pradesh could be convenient for locating the new plant, the release quoted him as saying. Khatayama said many other companies would come forward to invest in Andhra Pradesh as the Chief Minister himself has come to them.
He hoped that Isuzu's business in India would grow with its activities in Andhra Pradesh. Isuzu already has presence in the 'Sri City SEZ' in Andhra Pradesh. On the occasion, Naidu thanked Isuzu for providing vehicles in cyclone Hudhud relief works last month.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Japan, Naidu said the premiers of both countries are keen on strengthening Indo-Japan ties. Doing business in India would be profitable, he said, adding that the country's growth rate would rise substantially in the coming years.
Promoting Andhra Pradesh as an attractive investment destination is the objective, he said adding transport and travel facilities from Andhra Pradesh are good to cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore.The Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh, located on the Vizag-Chennai and Chennai-Bangalore industrial corridors, would be highly suitable for setting up industries, he said.
Naidu said his government would develop a Buddhist circuit linking the places of Buddhist significance from Srikakulam to Nagarjuna Sagar in AP.
