It was in April this that Toyota launched the all-new Camry both in the petrol and the hybrid avatar. The company had mentioned then that they were looking at sales to come from their Hybrid variant and that is exactly what has happened. The company sold 280 units of the Camry Hybrid in just 50 days.

The company has in fact sold 720 units last year and the sudden surge of interest shows how well received the product is. According to the company, the new Camry Hybrid has also managed to garner more than 730 customer enquiries and pending orders of over 125.

When it was launched, the Camry Hybrid cost Rs. 31.92 Lakh, but thanks to the recently announced government incentive under the FAME scheme, the company passed on the relief of Rs. 70000, to its customers. Speaking on the success of Camry in India, N Raja, the Director and Senior Vice - President of Sales and Marketing said "I would like to thank our customers of Camry for its success in India. At present Camry hybrid constitute more 80% of total Camry sales showing the increased awareness and acceptance of Hybrid in India."

The updated model gets a new front fascia. It now features new large lower grille, which looks quite similar to the one in Corolla. The upper grille, however, is relatively thinner. The front fascia also gets new LED-infused head-lights, large air intakes and chrome-surrounded rectangular shaped fog-lamps. Then there is also the updated bumper and a slim chrome strip running across the width of the car. Though the side profile of the car remains largely similar, the newly designed alloy wheels add to its sporty appeal.

Powering Both the Camry petrol and Camry Hybrid models continue to derive power from the same 2.5-litre petrol unit that churns out 158bhp and 213Nm. While with the electric motor, the total output produced by the engine is 202bhp and 233Nm.
